Finished five more pairs of 14 carat gold earrings and one pair of copper earrings and a copper bracelet. The copper have a barbed wire design. They turned out very nice. Worked on the display case some more. I'm done with that until the fabric to cover it arrives. I think I'm done with the jewelry for awhile, I'm out of wire. More is on the way. I have a little copper left, maybe I'll play with that.

Wow another busy day. I made up a few more pairs of earrings and one bracelet with a cool barbed wire design. Finished another little painting. Worked on the frame for displaying the jewelry. And finally took time to photograph the little 6 X 6 paintings I've been working on. I pasted them all together to post on here. Chickens, flowers and frogs all ready to go. Well not quite ready, I still need to varnish them. I'll get to that tomorrow. It's kind of nice to have watercolors that don't need to be matted and framed. The colors are still kind of wonky but they are getting better. I'll figure out that camera eventually. They look so much better in real life. The watercolor canvas really show the texture in the pictures. Kelly, once again I can't thank you enough for kicking me in the butt and getting me motivated. Six more earring and necklace sets bagged and ready to go. I haven't evn photographed them or put them on the site for sale. I'll wait until after the show. I'm starting to pull together some stuff for displaying everything. This will be a nice little test. If this goes well, I think I'll try to get into some bigger shows. Working on a new design for a bracelet. Hopefully I'll get some good feed back out of this if nothing else. I just signed up for the Bitterroot Craft Show at the Rocky Knob, Saturday, May 11. That's the day before Mother's Day so come on out and lend some moral support. This is my first show and I'm not sure I'm ready. Two weeks to kick it in gear and get as many done as possible. I may not need more, might not sell any, but this will be a good first test show for me. Between making more jewelry, paintings and literature I have to get something together for a display. I ordered some stuff yesterday and some more today. I even have some better chains coming for the necklaces but they may not be here in time. It's a race! Steam punk watercolor jewelry I tried something a little different for a couple pieces, hammered aluminum and hammered copper. Very steam punkish. I also added a few more copper pieces. The lilac bracelet, earrings and pendant turned out stunning. I may have to keep those for myself. The paper is from a "failed" painting I recycled into the jewelry. I really like the look of this one. I now have chain to make necklaces for the pendants. I'll be adding them to the for sale section as I have time. Tomorrow back to painting. I forgot to mention all the awesome feed back I received on my jewelry. I wore something every where I went this weekend. Everyone loved it. People were stopping me on the street to ask me where I got it. It is so great to get positive feed back for something you've worked on. Thank you to everyone that expressed an interest. That's what keeps me going!
Wow did I get a lot done today. Frames varnished, herons on silk heat set, the resist washed out, dried and pressed and ready to be mounted in the frames. Several armatures made and the paper attached. Tried a couple of new things with the armatures. And even got a couple of coats of varnish on some finished paintings from earlier this week. To busy to even take pictures today. I have to go to town tomorrow but I'll try to get some pictures and get the watercolor jewelry done in the afternoon.
Tried a new recipe for coconut shrimp last night, easy and yummy. I think the double dipping was the secret, nice and crunchy. Those were the last three and I ate them for lunch today. Pork carnitas for dinner tonight. I finally got back to the gold wire to make some armatures. Five feet of gold wire doesn't go very far. I am glad to have something to work on while waiting for some more picture quilts commissions. Build up my stock pile. I'm through with the lilacs for now. I'll wait until I have some real ones to work from. The table is more prominent now and I tweaked the colors a little bit. Also got the second heron painted, now it needs to sit for about 5 days before I can heat set and wash out the resist to see what I have. Also worked on a small diptych, each is only 2 1/2 by 3 1/2. They are paper panels I put gesso on to experiment with watercolor on gesso. I really like how it goes on and how easy it is to work with on the gesso. The colors lift very easily, still not back to white with the M. Graham watercolors. Off to meet with the painting group today. |
