Another in the flamingo series. I still need to do the grass they're standing on but it's looking good so far. I've drawn out a design for the next series but I'm trying to take pictures through the whole process and hopefully can post them as a series kind of like I did in the post titled evolution of Charlie. I think this next series will be fun. As I continue to play with these Pebeo paints and different mediums and the timing on when things are added they just keep getting more and more interesting. I still haven't figured out a solution to photographing them and capturing the depth and gloss and three dimension effects so the scanner will have to do for now.
This is the finished version of Big Pine Charlie shrunk down to an up-loadable size. He's a huge file thanks to Gary's help. I'm working on a friend for him now.
The Pancakes and Booze Art Show in Seattle was very interesting. It was a very young crowd and there were not a lot of sales for anyone. Some did ok on prints but they were few and far between. I did make some great contacts that I hope will lead to bigger and better things. All in all it was a great learning experience and provided AMAZING feedback on my art. I'm excited to see where the next show will lead me. I think this one will be called busy Kai after one of my favorite four year old's. I know, I know, I have to knock the green back some but I am just enjoying the colors too much to do that right away. Eventually he will be peaking out of some seaweed instead of a whorl wind of colors. Once again Pebeo Fantasy Paints, love these things!
I love the bright colors that can be achieved with Pebeo Fantasy Paints! This will be part of the tropical fish series. The colors are so and glossy, so hard to capture in a photograph. These should be seen in person.
Back to the business of playing! The first jellyfish I did was given as a Christmas present so I tried to recreate the original painting. Here are two attempts done a little differently. One I painted first the second I did the resin first and then painted. Both are in Pebeo Fantasy paints. Caribbean Blue is turning into one of my favorite colors to use in the water scenes. I think what I like most about these paints are their unpredictability. They run, they swirl, they bloom, they dance and the results are amazing. I'll post some bigger ones soon.
Another little frog in Pebeo. The background is Pebeo Vitrail in Chartreuse and Lemon, the outline is Pebeo Cerne Relief and the body of the frog is Vitrail in Chartreuse and Lemon and Fantasy Prisme in Emerald and Antique Gold. There are some textural cattails in the background that I used Pebeo Glazing Resin to accomplish. I'll have to see if I can get a picture that shows them a little bit more.
I don't know what it is about me and relief or resist. The first couple of times I get back into it my hands shake like a leaf! Notice the blobs and unevenness of the lines. Thankfully I know as the piece progresses that will all be unnoticeable to most people. I'll still see it but I've learned to accept it as part of the process. I think it's a lot like the photo quilts, I've learned to like the lines a little messy. It reminds me of being a kid and coloring outside the lines only this time I get to make the lines. This is the Pebeo Cerne Relief in black on hardboard primed with gesso. These are a couple of little boards I cut for ATC's or ACEO's a few years ago. They are the perfect size to experiment with the Pebeo Paints. I'm thinking about a series of animal eyes so I thought I would try one to see how it goes. This is another turtle shell attempt. I really liked how the last one turned out and want to try a couple other colors.
