It's amazing what can happen with a little encouragement, when someone tells you they believe in you and your talent. I'm going to try to hold on to that feeling as long as possible. Who knows when it will happen again.
Wow, busy two days. I got some more pendants just about done, just need to varnish the back. I'm working on a small silk piece, playing with an idea, trying to work something out. My carpenter still hasn't shown up to make me some more frames for the silks so I'm going to try something different. I like them mounted in the open frame but I can't wait on my him forever. I'll try mounting this on on a canvas and see if I like it that way. I also got to paint! Yeah! Larry's on the fabric, painted and the borders on. I'm not sure if I'll start on him tomorrow or paint the silk? Either way should be a good day. He's looking pretty good even in the "ugly" stage. I think he'll turn out really well. And to top it all off I got my taxes done and two thirds of the dining room carpet shampooed.

I got the borders on, laid it on the batting and figured out I was out of fabric for the backing. I'll have to run into Hamilton or wait until next week when I go to Missoula for fabric. I did get the last scarf heat set and washed. It was really good practice for me with the resist and trying out different techniques. It is bright, bright, bright! I'll have to work on a new project tomorrow. Maybe work out another design to use in the open frame silk picture. I need to call Chris and see if he can make me a couple more frames. Cranked up the radio and spent the day painting. It doesn't get much better then that! I finally finished the "journal" scarf. Well one more go round of the board with the black and it will be done. I spent some time looking at Teesha Moore's journal pages and made a scarf along those lines. If you've never seen her work, check it out on her site or youtube to see her in action. And I started a watercolor. This is a little different approach for me, trying something new. I hope to get the second layer on tomorrow. I get so much joy out of painting, even if it doesn't turn out like I want. Crank up the classic rock and paint, pure joy. Now what would make this a perfect day, location, location, location. If I could be sitting on the dock (Panama), cold beer in hand, with good company, watching the sun go down, that would be my ideal of a perfect day. I finally took another picture of the salmon on silk. It still doesn't do it justice but it's much better then the last one. This picture just glows because of the silk. I can't wait to try another. Now if I can get my carpenter to make me some more frames I'm ready to go. Double portrait picture quilt in the "ugly" stage. I always think I'm going to have to start over at this point. Without the stitching it just looks flat. |
