Added several watercolors and one oil painting for sale. They can be found in the gallery. Some on watercolor paper, some on watercolor canvas. Free shipping on all paintings. Got some 6 X 12 canvas's in the other day and will start on them as soon as I get the things ready to send to Georgia. And I still need to put the silk herons together. I'll try to get to that this week. Lot's to do on this rainy weekend.

Great fishing trip, perfect weather and just enough fish to make it interesting. So a quick update on the show last weekend. No customers! There might have been a grand total of 20 people at the show. I didn't think there would be very many, first time they ever had a craft show there. But 20, sheese. It did give me a chance to try out my setup. The other vendors loved it. I did sell two paintings. The lilacs on watercolor canvas and the frog on watercolor paper wrapped over a canvas. Today I'll start getting the stuff together to send to Georgia and stop by the shop here in town to see what that space looks like and what I need to display there. Wow another busy day. I made up a few more pairs of earrings and one bracelet with a cool barbed wire design. Finished another little painting. Worked on the frame for displaying the jewelry. And finally took time to photograph the little 6 X 6 paintings I've been working on. I pasted them all together to post on here. Chickens, flowers and frogs all ready to go. Well not quite ready, I still need to varnish them. I'll get to that tomorrow. It's kind of nice to have watercolors that don't need to be matted and framed. The colors are still kind of wonky but they are getting better. I'll figure out that camera eventually. They look so much better in real life. The watercolor canvas really show the texture in the pictures. Kelly, once again I can't thank you enough for kicking me in the butt and getting me motivated. Watercolor on watercolor canvas, lilacs again. Definitely thinking spring. I need to make the edge of the table a little more prominent and anchor them a little better. The camera did loose some of the shadows though. I think I like working on the watercolor canvas as a stretched canvas better then like this one, glued to a board. The second heron is hung and ready to paint. That's tomorrows project. The picture above was from the other camera and the colors are a lot closer to what they look like in real life. I guess I'll have to play with the color saturation on the Minolta and see if I can figure it out. The picture below is from the Minolta and the colors are way off. They both washed out the center of the picture but the top one is much closer color wise.
Two efforts for today, both lilacs. This first one is watercolors on watercolor canvas. Still having trouble getting my blues and greens to look correct when I photograph them. This is 6 X 6 inches. This second one is water soluble oils on canvas. Same size, 6 X 6 inches. I'm still having trouble with my value in oils. I'm so used to working with the white of the paper showing through the transparent watercolors and that water colors dry a little lighter that I keep getting my oils to dark. What you see is what you get with oils. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out considering I haven't tried this technique before. There are a couple things I'll change on the next one but over all pretty happy with it. Now if I can get a better picture. Will try this again in a bigger size. This might also be fun on watercolor canvas. I'll have to get one stretched and ready to go. |
