Third application of color. Working wet on wet, love the granulation of the colors but it's really hard to stop myself from working back into it before it dries. The reflections on the "ice" are great. Now I have to figure out what to do with their heads and hats.

I didn't get much done today, doing too much stuff for others. But I did get a little of the background put in and the people are starting to stand out. The green looks a little over worked to me. This is a new to me technique so it's a learning curve. I hope to redo this picture in half sheet (15x22) or even full sheet (22x30) size. This is a quarter sheet for practice. Cranked up the radio and spent the day painting. It doesn't get much better then that! I finally finished the "journal" scarf. Well one more go round of the board with the black and it will be done. I spent some time looking at Teesha Moore's journal pages and made a scarf along those lines. If you've never seen her work, check it out on her site or youtube to see her in action. And I started a watercolor. This is a little different approach for me, trying something new. I hope to get the second layer on tomorrow. I get so much joy out of painting, even if it doesn't turn out like I want. Crank up the classic rock and paint, pure joy. Now what would make this a perfect day, location, location, location. If I could be sitting on the dock (Panama), cold beer in hand, with good company, watching the sun go down, that would be my ideal of a perfect day. I've had a couple questions on prices for the photo memory quilts so here's the information.
These sizes are approximate for a finished picture quilt. 16"X 18" $100 to $150 18" X 24" $200 to $250 24" X 30" $300 to $350 It depends on how much detail is included from the picture. The more stitching the more time it takes to finish a picture. For special sizes or request, I can quote you a price once I've seen the picture Finished the double portrait, not sure if I like it or not? I'm always a little nervous about portraits. I like figures in a landscape. That seems to show people's personality better then just a head shot. Hope they like it, nice looking couple. This is what I'm talking about. It show's Kelly doing something he likes, not just a head shot that doesn't have a story with it. I finally took another picture of the salmon on silk. It still doesn't do it justice but it's much better then the last one. This picture just glows because of the silk. I can't wait to try another. Now if I can get my carpenter to make me some more frames I'm ready to go. Double portrait picture quilt in the "ugly" stage. I always think I'm going to have to start over at this point. Without the stitching it just looks flat. I thought this might be an easier way to add new items to the web site. Let me know what you think. The old front page is available as a link until I can figure out how to move it here. I'm working on a double portrait photo memory quilt right now. Not to difficult except for the dark clothing colors running on to the skin area's! That's what makes this fun, totally unpredictable. This is one from last week that I sent over to Yakima with Kelly. Hope it sells! |
