The second heron is hung and ready to paint. That's tomorrows project.
Watercolor on watercolor canvas, lilacs again. Definitely thinking spring. I need to make the edge of the table a little more prominent and anchor them a little better. The camera did loose some of the shadows though. I think I like working on the watercolor canvas as a stretched canvas better then like this one, glued to a board.

The second heron is on the silk waiting to be painted. Well the resist is drying and then it will be ready to paint. I think I might have to redo this guy, the resist came out to thick. The second one is the first heron painted and just hanging there to dry. I never know if I'll like it at this point. Have to wait to set it and wash it out to tell for sure. Off to get a haircut. Woohoo! Chris brought me some frames this weekend so I can get back to some silk work. Two are the same size and one is about an inch smaller. For the same sized ones, I'm working on a pair of nesting herons in silk. I have them both drawn out and the first one is on the silk, detail below. Hopefully I haven't forgotten the skills needed to work with silk. I'm so excited to get back to the silk painting! And my gold wire arrived today. Unfortunately I have to go to town tomorrow, OPS. I won't be able to work on anything until Wednesday. Lot's to keep me working. The picture above was from the other camera and the colors are a lot closer to what they look like in real life. I guess I'll have to play with the color saturation on the Minolta and see if I can figure it out. The picture below is from the Minolta and the colors are way off. They both washed out the center of the picture but the top one is much closer color wise.
Two efforts for today, both lilacs. This first one is watercolors on watercolor canvas. Still having trouble getting my blues and greens to look correct when I photograph them. This is 6 X 6 inches. This second one is water soluble oils on canvas. Same size, 6 X 6 inches. I'm still having trouble with my value in oils. I'm so used to working with the white of the paper showing through the transparent watercolors and that water colors dry a little lighter that I keep getting my oils to dark. What you see is what you get with oils. I updated my Facebook cover to this picture, what do you think? Sterling silver, copper, watercolor paper and watercolor paint. All are available on my "Jewelry for Sale" page. Check it out. I'm trying to get a Pinterest button on here, in the mean time pin me if you like it.
You wouldn't think ordering gold wire would be a hard thing to do. My regular supplier is on vacation so I had to try someone else on Ebay. Paypal decided I should not be allowed to pay with my debit card. To make a long story short, it took me two days to get it paid for. I'm off this afternoon to paint with the Rivers Edge group. Yeah, painting practice again! |
