I had a chance to sit down and play with my new Pebeo Paints this weekend. These are going to be fun to explore. The paints react with others in the brand and some react on there own. Look close at the textures. I threw a little bit of everything at these two pieces. Pebeo Cerne Relief, Ceramic, Vitrail, Fantasy Moon and Fantasy Prisme.

What a fun weekend. It started off Friday night with an awesome cocktail party on Dan and Donna's beautiful boat, great food and people! Then Saturday was busy with oil painting. Linda mentioned she liked the one I did of the waves rolling in so i thought I'd try another one for her. and today was silk painting. Still on the beginning end of the learning curve there but it's all fun. I tried the turtle logo that I see all over the islands.
Road to Holter Lake, oil painting
Well my muse has been on vacation or something this month. I've forced myself to do a few things but there was no joy, no excitement, nothing. Finally today it's back. There was joy, excitement, a sense of accomplishment. It may not be the best painting I've ever done but at least I enjoyed it again. This is the road at Holter Lake coming out of Log Clutch campground. If you've been there recently you will recognize it, the tree on the right is very distinctive. I'll have to sit my muse down and have a little talk with him one of these days. Maybe he'll let me know when he's going to check out for a while. Good to be back painting. Added several watercolors and one oil painting for sale. They can be found in the gallery. Some on watercolor paper, some on watercolor canvas. Free shipping on all paintings. Got some 6 X 12 canvas's in the other day and will start on them as soon as I get the things ready to send to Georgia. And I still need to put the silk herons together. I'll try to get to that this week. Lot's to do on this rainy weekend. Two efforts for today, both lilacs. This first one is watercolors on watercolor canvas. Still having trouble getting my blues and greens to look correct when I photograph them. This is 6 X 6 inches. This second one is water soluble oils on canvas. Same size, 6 X 6 inches. I'm still having trouble with my value in oils. I'm so used to working with the white of the paper showing through the transparent watercolors and that water colors dry a little lighter that I keep getting my oils to dark. What you see is what you get with oils. I dug out my oils, finally. This is from the cover of Kevin MacPhersons book. Not any where near as good as his but I need the practice and I love the colors. It gave me a chance to play in the oils and I managed to get paint on my pants. Should have put on my work pants first. Great sky practice and I need the practice, haven't played with the oils in a long time. Other then that all I did was play in the kitchen. I made mojo de ajo, I've been out for MONTHS. Made a batch of chimmichurri and a batch of pico de gallo. Can you guess what's for dinner tonight? I have some pork cooking to make pork carnitas for tacos to go with all the sauces. Yummy! |
